1. First People’s commitment to your privacy

The Privacy Statement was created because we value our users and they have the right to keep their personal information private.

For the purposes of providing services to our users and for the purposes of better tailoring our services to you, we collect Personal Information and Personal Data from site visitors. We will use any Personal Information and Personal Data collected from you in accordance with this Privacy Statement.

This Privacy Statement has been developed by First People. The website www.firstpeople.io is owned and operated by First People and the site can be found across desktop, mobile and tablet. 

2. Definitions

The Privacy Act refers to the terms “Personal Information” and “Australian Privacy Principle(s)” in this Privacy Statement.

This Privacy Statement is for you. The Corporations Act 2001 (Cth) states that any reference to “First People“, “we”, “us”, and “our” includes a reference to First People and its related bodies.

Candidates” or “Talent” refers to users who registered a “Candidate” or “Talent” account. 

“Employers” are individuals or entities that post job ads on our site or use other products to source potential Candidates / Talent for job vacancies and opportunities. 

Candidates / Talent, Employers and users who visit the First People platform without registering an account to access services or information offered via the site are referred to generically in this statement as “visitors”, “users” or “you“, unless there is context for specific account types.

Personal Data” refers to any of your data that you have submitted or display on the First People platform.

Candidate Search” / “Talent Search” refers to a functionality on the First People site that allows Employers to search and browse the First People talent directory to find candidates that match their recruitment criteria.

Candidate Messaging” / “Talent Messaging” / “Employer Messaging” refers to functionality on the First People platform that allows user accounts to message one another via a messaging function. Users who use this function does not receive access to any of the candidate / talent or employers personal details.

3. Collecting visitor information

The non-Personal Information collected by First People includes, without limitation, which sections of the site are most frequently visited, how often, and for how long. The data may be shared with First People partners to provide them with information about how visitors use the site. The shared data is always non-Personal information and in an aggregated form. This is done to give you the streamlined career opportunity, management and recruitment services.

IP Addresses

First People web server gathers your internet protocol address to assist with the diagnosis of problems with the site and to monitor the use of the site.

4. Collecting information on registered users

By registering an account with First People, we collect personal information entered by users to optimise our service delivery to users and visitors. To ensure we are providing our users and visitors with an efficient and functional service it is essential to collect relevant personal information, the majority of which is extracted from the inputs of user profiles. Users can delete their accounts at any time from within their dashboards and our system also wipes their data.

5. Other types of information First People collects

First People may collect and use information relating to your job seeking or recruitment needs and user activity such as user patterns. First People may utilise this information for the purpose of tailoring offerings and distribution of content to you in a more relevant and targeted format.

6. CV storage

Candidate / Talent accounts may upload their CV to their profile via the profile section within their dashboards. Candidate / Talent users may use their CV when submitting job-applications via the First People site. Candidate / Talent users can delete their CV at any time from their profile. Deleted CV records may remain on First People testing or backup systems for a period of time before being deleted permanently. 

Test environments are closed and secure environments where any information relating to users including their CV are only used for software testing. Information in our backup systems are purely held only for the unlikely case of requiring a backup system in the event of data loss. 

7. Candidate / Talent Profiles

A Candidate / Talent profile provides this user type with the opportunity to upload information to complete a digital profile which includes a profile photo, CV, educational history, video, employment history, portfolio, awards, bio, who your ‘mob’ is, expected rates, job roles and classifications, contact information and location. Candidate / Talent users can edit or delete their profile at anytime within their dashboards.

Employers who purchase a ‘Company’ or ‘Enterprise’ package on the First People platform will have access to the Candidate / Talent network. Employers can also set ‘Candidate / Talent’ alerts from within their dashboards so that if/when a new Candidate / Talent account is registered, the employer will be notified.

When registering an account with First People, all users are required to submit basic information such as their email address and a password. This information is stored on our servers indefinitely unless users delete their profiles. First People may also contact users who have been inactive on the site for more than 365 days. If First People doesn’t receive a response after 3 attempts to contact and a period of 28 days has passed the user account along with associated information will be deleted.

Candidate / Talent users can choose within their profile if they want their profile to be publicly displayed. This can be toggled on and off as required. 

Display Profile

If Candidate / Talent users elect to have their profile displayed, their profile will be accessible by Employers with ‘Company’ & ‘Enterprise’ user packages on the First People platform. Employers will be able to download Candidate / Talent CV’s, view all information relating to Candidate / Talent profiles and contact Candidate / Talent via the messaging feature.

Private Profile

If Candidate / Talent users elect to hide their profile, their profile is hidden from all user accounts. Candidate / Talent users can still navigate and utilise the site however in some cases when applying for jobs, there will be requirements to submit certain information.

8. Employer profiles

An Employer profile provides this user type with the opportunity to upload information to complete a digital profile that includes company logo, bio, company members, location, size of company, profile video, phone number, email and website. Employers can delete their profile at any time from within their dashboard.

Employers can choose to either display their profile or hide their profile.

Display Profile

If Employer users elect to have their profile displayed, their profile will be accessible by all visitors to the First People site that includes both registered and unregistered employers. Employers who display their profile will be placed on a digital and interactive map of Australia in their businesses location. All users are able to submit a message to Employers via the messaging form on their profiles.

Private Profile

If Employers users elect to hide their profile, their profile is hidden from all user accounts. Employers can still navigate and utilise the site however when submitting a job, you will be required to complete the associated information to complete a job post.

9. Online applications

First People requires all users who are applying for jobs on the site to have a registered Candidate / Talent account. This approach is essential building our talent network which is essential to the operations of the First People site.

Information submitted from Candidate/ Talent user accounts for job applications are submitted only to the Employer for them to review and manage at their own discretion. There is no guarantee of being successful from submitting job applications.

By applying for a position advertised on the First People platform, you are requesting First People to submit your information to the relevant Employer account. Any queries you have or that arise out of your job application process in relation to the job should be submitted to the Employer directly. First People reserves the right to delete, disable or temporarily lock a CV or cover letter at its discretion.

Employers are required by First People to comply with all applicable laws in Australia, which also includes any obligations in relation to the disclosure and use of personal information outlined in the Privacy Act as well as any additional relevant laws.

Candidate / Talent users hold the right to contact all Employers from which they have sent information as part of a job application and request access to that information. Candidate / Talent user profiles will be accessible by employers with specific user packages.

10. Employers collected information

First People collects information from Employer profile inputs such as the name of the company, address including billing address, contact names, email addresses and phone numbers. These details are collected and retained to support the provision of an efficient recruitment service. 

Employers can delete their profile at any stage from within their dashboard. All of the Employer information submitted via First People will also be wiped from our servers.

11. First People communications

First People may send you various information via email communications relating to job opportunities, information relating to your job applications, new jobs, new talent and other updates. All email communications will provide recipients with the opportunity to unsubscribe from receiving emails as per standard procedure.

12. Contractors and partners

First People may disclose your personal information to relevant service providers, contractors and partners for the purpose of:

– Research, or
– Accessibility to their products or services, or
– Accessibility to our products or services

All third parties that we share your personal consented information with is requested to comply with relevant obligations that relates to the use of and disclosure of personal information outlined in the Privacy Act and any additional laws.

13. Storage & Security of Personal Information

First People takes all necessary steps in an effort to ensure the security of our platform and for the protection of your personal information. This included protection from information loss, misuse, modification, unauthorised access and disclosure. Users have the ability to update their profiles accordingly with up to date information. All information received through the First People platform is held in secure storage in controlled facilities.

In the event of a data breach, First People is committed to complying with all Australian Privacy Laws. Keeping the confidentiality of any password and accounts used on the site is an important part of keeping your Personal Information secure. If there is any unauthorized use of your account by any other internet user, please let us know immediately.

First People does not collect any information that identifies you personally if do not register a user account. 

14. The transfer and retention of data

First People retains all information you provide via the platform that includes your personal information and data whilst you have an active First People account. This information will be retained until user accounts are deactivated for inactivity or an account deletion request from a user is received.

By utilising the First People services available including creating a profile, applying for jobs, uploading a CV and messaging, you consent to your personal information being sent across all Australian state and territories including outside of Australia as required.

15. Feedback and Complaints about privacy and the First People platform

First People welcomes all feedback, ideas and recommendations for the First People platform. We store this information as required which may be used to inform new services as part of future service offerings.

Complaints about our dealings with your personal information that includes breaches by First People of any Australian Privacy Principles and relevant legislation may be sent to us directly at info@firstpeople.io. Complaints of all kinds may be submitted to info@firstpeople.io email address which will be assigned to one of our staff who will respond in a timely manner.
